Shana has been in private practice since 2010. She earned a B.S in Psychology from UW Madison and an M.S in Educational Psychology from UW Milwaukee. She has worked in the mental health field for over 25 yrs. Shana has experience working within the County Mental health system, the school districts, and psychiatric hospitals. She specializes in trauma work and feels honored to be a part of someone's healing. She has been a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights for many years in this community. She proudly helped co facilitate the GSA at one of the local high schools and secure protection for that group. She has spoken at school board meetings, groups of high school students for career development, testified for the Senate Judiciary Committee on an education bill that would have harmed students who need the protections of trained interventionists. She has been interviewed by radio and television for her work on advocacy for public education. There are so many students who need accommodations or know who to reach out to in the schools. Shana has maintained exceptional relationships with school districts around Southeast Wisconsin. She is involved in the community as an education advocate and does public speaking for The Family Center, Northwestern Mutual, Alverno, UW Milwaukee, and other presentations and workshops.She has taught at the University level in Developmental Psychology. She helped create relationships with Universities in Wisconsin to mentor students for practicum and later train as Qualified Treatment Trainees. Her approach to therapy is based mainly on creating a therapeutic connection. Shana uses cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), some dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques, always uses a trauma informed approach, and meets the client where they are and what they bring in with them. She prefers in person, but can do telehealth. She specializes in working with adolescents, but also enjoys individuals, couples and families. PTSD, Depression, Suicide assessments, Anxiety, ADHD, Post Partum Depression, Parenting, LGBTQ+ safe, sex therapy, gender affirming care. Available for public speaking and trainings.
